MASTERS COACH OF THE YEAR
Alex Mazick - Everett Rowing Association
Coach Mazick grew his Masters morning rowing group, the Everett Morning Glories, from seven to 34 people over the past three years. He works with experienced and novice rowers alike, and finds a way to coach everyone at their level while bringing them together both in the boat and in the boathouse. Led two Women’s Masters crews, an 8+ and 4+ to silver medal performances at the Green Lake Summer Regatta.Nancy Faigen - Potomac Men’s Coach
Led the Potomac Boat Club Men’s Sweep team to a 2014 Men’s and Overall Team Championship at the US Rowing Masters Nationals. Her crews won 21 national titles and medaled in 25 of 26 events entered at Masters Nationals. Of 45 races entered by the team this year, Faigen’s crews were in the top three in 41 of them - 33 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze.James Rawson - Pocock Competitive Women’s team
Led Pocock Rowing Center to first place wins at the 2014 San Diego Crew Classic, the 2014 Opening Day Windermere Cup Regatta , and US Rowing Northwest Masters Regionals Women’s A, B and C 8+ (among other gold wins).Most significant is the awarding of the USRowing Northwest Masters Regionals Points Trophy in 2014.Hugh Tompkins IV - Lake Union Crew
Developed the locally competitive group from a group of roughly 11 women to a team of 30 women in 2014. When need arose, took on coaching the nationally competitive group. 2014 wins from NW Regionals Masters in AA-A 4+, F+ 8+, Novice A+ 4+, AA-A 2-. 2014 Canadian Masters Championship 8+ AA-B and 4+ A wins.
